'I've been a life-long athiest, but it's an uplifting experience being up here'.

It's not just performers at 'Lunchtime Live' who find being in Hope Chapel an uplifting experience.

'Lunchtime Live' at Hope Chapel

'This is the most sanctified space we've played in'
(Andy Greaves from 'Ghost School')

'That's the wierdest thing I've done at a gig'
(Nick Hall, after singing without PA or guitar from the pulpit)

High hope indeed - and delighted to be encouraging folk to share their God-given talents.

All part of our efforts to provide a sanctuary space for all that develops wholeness and wellbeing.

Thanks to our friends at Union Chapel in London for their inspiration and encouragement.

Today we said goodbye to Jean Forrest, one of the most-loved members of our church. Jean was as confident about the love of her Lord as she faced death as when she was alive.

She suggested holding the memorial service in the back room, since not many folk would turn up. In fact, the restored chapel building was full of people gathered to celebrate her life.

A servant-hearted woman filled with great humility and Christian love:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Rev Keith Jones DD, chair of the Baptist History Society, leads worship in the same chapel space today. It's the last in a great series of events and activities that commemorate the achievements of Rev John Fawcett DD

The delicate and time-consuming task of securing damaged ceiling struts ahead of decoration. Current date for getting the building back in our hands is 21st July.

Already planning carpets, cleaning, etc ... and setting up a CIC to run this unique venue for the benefit of our local community. Get in touch if you're interested.
